Let them Eat Cake

How long does it take to consume a full strawberry cake with awesome vanilla frosting????????

Usually about 20 minutes at the office! This time we didn't send out a mass email, and it lasted for about 3 hours!

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!

So I meant to post this last night, but because I had to take a dose of Benadryl, my butt was promptly knocked out. At the barn last night we found 7 kittens. Okay, so we didn't much find as abduct them from their mother. But I digress....The mother cat, is too young to have had kittens in the first place, she had them underneath a house. We've known for the past several weeks that she had them or miscarried, as she was pregnant one day, and the next day it seemed as if she was back to normal (why doesn't that work with humans?). Anyway, we were minding our own business, when my son screamed "Look she has a kitten!" Sure enough Fraidy (that's what we call her) was carrying what seemed to be a 4 week old kitten by the scruff. Megan and I followed her to her lair (an unhealthy garbage and trash pile of wood) where she deposited the kitten. Well, because we are such nice people and can't mind our own business, Megan and I took it upon ourselves to rescue the helpless kitties out of the dangerous wood pile. After what seemed like 2 hours, 30 spiders, 2 bees, 5 splinters and dirty filthy hands and knees later, we had 7 kittens. We put them in a box and aligned them next to the other litter of kittens that is probably only 1 week older. Hopefully the mom will learn her lesson and keep them out of harm, or else we'll just have to rescue them again. But during the course of my good actions, I must have absent-mindedly rubbed my eye which caused it to swell. By the time I got home, I had 1-1/2 eyes to peer out of. Hence the Benedryl, which made me comatose for the rest of the night and part of this morning. Next time the darn cats can just stay where they are.

Everybody Wang Chung Tonight

Chris performed his best karate kid impression over the weekend by taking 3rd place in kata and 5th place in weapons kata at the George Shin Tournament. Unfortunately, I could not be there to see his joyous event as I was teaching a horseback riding lesson and spent most of my day out at the horse stall. I made sure to have him demonstrate to me his kung-fu type abilities and then we celebrated with chinese food! This hopefully made up for the fact that the XBOX 360 went on the fritz again and he couldn't play his guitar hero game that he got the week before. And he wonders where the kids get it.

Word to the Wise, Follow Trail Directions

Megan and I took the horses to Charles Pack Forest Today. We laughed, we got angry, we got scared, and then we came home. Overall the trip was really amazing. Lots of nice little trails, and nothing major for the horses to cross. There is one section labeled "Advanced Horse Trail" however, that enabled me to become a little more vertical with my horse than I really would rather be. Let's just say that I've never seen a horse run literally up the side of the mountain. We acted as trail-blazing pioneer woman as we plowed our way through the trail. The one disappointment of course, the lack of restrooms! :)

Here's a pic of Megan holding back the crazy beasts. After their fun jaunt up the mountain, Zena and Arizona were really in no mood to go anywhere! Notice the droopy eyes and sleepy expressions!

And of course we all get to have one totally retarded picture! Hey it's not easy trying to take a picture of everyone holding the camera yourself! I like the horse growing out of my head personally.

My Nose Don't Have Boogers..... I Eat Them!

As a parent, I had to laugh when my 3 year old said this to his newly acquired Shrek 3 baby toy. I also was silently relieved that we were in the comfort of our own vehicle and not somewhere public like the food court at the mall. The whole conversation stemmed something around the baby having boogers, (which the plastic toy clearly doesn't), and Aidan supplying his thoughts on the matter. Needless to say, I wasn't aware that he ate them, and I clearly hope that he was just repeating something he said and not something that he actually does. Guess I will have to keep a better eye on that in the future!

Change is good?

Well, I owe this new blog to a fellow coworker who said change is inevitable. Why not go for it and do something different. Well, I'm doing something different Michelle. This Blog is a pain in the ##@*& though! But, who better than to show a good example of change than my youngest. Chris got the best pictures of Aidan during a two minute potty training session. Let's just say, the photos were the only thing we got out of that session.
