Memorial Day Horses

I know, more horses. I just can't resist!

Just one kiss sweetheart!

Butts of a feather.

Who's my pretty girl! :)

Memorial Day Fun

We spent most of the weekend out at the barn, putting up our old swingset at the barn and pressure washing the old toys that were there. It took 2 days to get everything situated. We celebrated today with a barbeque. Here are a few pictures from the day.

I didn't realize that Zena was part pointer!!! Look at that form!

Roman and Rachel are communicating through the secret lip language.
I was trying to work on our speed, and pulled Zena up a little short today.
Right, Left, cha, cha, cha.....

Baby Donkey

There was a baby donkey born around 8pm on Friday. He's such a cute little fellow! There was a little bit of trouble at the beginning, we weren't sure if he was eating on his own or not, but then after a little manual help, he began eating on his own. No name as of yet, we'll have to take more pictures when he gets older.

Drill Dementia

So our first drill experience last weekend was not the best experience. We looked like we had never ridden before. It was such an eye-opening experience. Although our horses didn't do the best, they were by far not the worst. The best part was seeing Chris and Dan (the only two guys on the team) wearing the matching hat and vests that the other women wear! Where's my lucky charms! haha!!!

More Drill Pictures

This group is so neat. All 4 of these horses are rescue horses and feedlot buys. They do fantastic. It's their first year back in drill and less than 30 days performing. They're drill team name is Cowgirl Spirit!

Chris and Ginger look so good together. It's been almost a year since he's been riding. He loves the drill team and likes competing.

Zena is such a joy. I've had her for almost 2 years now and I love every bit of it!!!

Pony Power

We spent mother's day at the barn letting the boys ride the pony Roman. Roman is a 1/2 curly bashkir and 1/2 mini cross. So sweet He turns 3 next month. We've let the boys take turns be led on him and they love it. Aidan loves showing off his little Charro Saddle anyway!!!

Buzz & Indy

Our horses have the pleasure to be next to some hilarious horses. My favorites are Buzz and Indy. They look like they could be brothers, although they are not related. Once you get to know them, they are loving horses and always whinny when we pull up. Indy has this weird little bony knob on the right side of his chin. His owner claims it's a handle! :)

Drill Team Exhibition

We had our first drill team show this weekend. It was for a 4-H halftime demonstration. There were 3 teams; Cowgirl Spirit, Reining Rookies, and Reining Rowdies. For our first halftime performance, I don't think we did too bad. It's pretty exciting when you're loping in between other riders. I guess this is the beginning of competition season.

Sophie the cowgirl

It's been some time since I mentioned some of my students (have I yet?). Sophie is by far one of my favorites. She's such a little firecracker. She helps me clean out my paddock, and trust me, there are not many kids who are willing to help pick up horse poop!!
